(Jacqueline Wilson
Mr. Putter & Tabby Pour the Tea を Bitesize Book Talk として書いたものです。

Mr. Putter & Tabby “POUR THE TEA”
1 Mr. Putter
Mr. Putter lived alone.
In the mornings he had breakfast alone.
In the afternoons he drank his tea alone.
In the evenings there was no one to hear his stories.
All day long he did his garden alone.
He wished for some company.
Warm muffins.
Good tea.
Wonderful stories.
But he had no one to share.
Mr. Putter wanted a cat.
2. Tabby
He went to the pet store.
“Do you have cats?” he asked the staff.
“We have fourteen,” she said.
He was delighted.
“These are kittens,” he said.
“I want a cat.”
“No one wants cats,” she said.
“They are not cute. They are not peppy.”
He was not cute.
He was not peppy.
Mr. Putter went to the shelter.
“We have three,” the shelter man said.
“They are a fat one, a thin one and an old one.”
Mr. Putter saw an old one.
Its bones creaked.
Its fur was thinning.
It seemed a little deaf.
Mr. Putter creaked.
His hair was thinning.
He was a little deaf, too.
He took the old yellow cat home.
He named her Tabby.
And their life began.
3. Mr. Putter & Tabby
Tabby loved his tulips.
She rubbed past them.
She rolled past them.
She took her bath among the tulips.
Mr. Putter clipped roses.
In the mornings they shared an English muffin.
In the afternoons they shared tea.
In the evenings he told stories to Tabby.
Each story made Tabby purr.
On summer days they warmed together.
On fall days they took long walks together.
On winter days they turned up the opera.
Tabby knew what Mr. Putter would do next.
Mr. Putter knew where Tabby would sleep next.
In the mornings they woke up together.
At night they fell asleep together.
They lived among their tulips and trees.
They ate their muffins.
They poured their tea.
They turned up the opera.
They enjoyed perfectly----
----each other.
